D.S Ramanathan ' is Malaysian politician,mayor, teacher, unionist and educationist of Indian origin. He was the founder and chairman of Labour Party of Malaya. Beside that, Ramanathan also serve as the first mayor for the city of George Town.credited for his pioneering efforts to set up a university in Penang. The idea of a university in Penang was first mooted by him in 1959 in the State Assembly and later crystalised when he was nominated chairman of the Penang University Project committee.
The Universiti Sains Malaysia opened in 1969 and is today one of the leading tertiary institutions of learning in Malaysia

Early Life

D.S Ramanathan born to Sri Langka tamil family. He later married to Ruth Vanniasingham. D.S Ramanathan work as teacher on early days before joining politics.The former teacher, who began his career in Perak, was the president of the National Union of Teachers from 1959 to 1962 as well as vice-president of the Malayan Teachers National Congress from 1961-1962. During that period, he was also an active member of the National Joint Council of Teachers. Even, after finishing his term as mayor, he was appointed as the headmaster of the Penang Pykett Methodist School.

Steven Thiru

Steven Thiru is a prominent Malaysian lawyer and current president of Malaysian Bar[1][2][3]. Previously, he served as vice-president for the Bar Council under the presidency of Christopher Leong. Steven Thiruneelakandan was listed under the Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2014 as a recommended lawyer in the area of Dispute Resolution[4].He is the 12th person from Malaysian Indian ethnic to serve as the bar council president. He graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Leicester.

Early life and education

Steven Thiruneelakandan (Steven Thiru) graduated in 1990 from the University of Leicester (LL.B. (Hons)). He was admitted to the English Bar at Middle Temple in 1991 and the High Court of Malaya as an Advocate and Solicitor in 1992. He also holds a Masters in Laws degree from the University of Malaya. He is currently a senior litigation partner of Messrs Shook Lin & Bok, and his areas of practice are Administrative Law, Employment Law and Civil litigation. He married to Susheila Anne Sreedharan and have one daughter.

Mayilvaganam

Mayilvaganam were one of the activist among the thousand activist who join the HINDRAF Rally. He had been seen as one of the most active activist in HINDRAF. 

Background

Mayilvaganam were from Johor. He passed away on 11 February 2015 due to heart attack

TPCA was one of the famous sport society in Malaysia during British Colony Malaya. The club famously known as the pioneer of Malaya sporting by producing many top sportsperson and also well known for their TPCA Stadum. TPCA were founded by a group of young Ceylonese Tamil and originally  their member are consist of Ceylonese Tamil. Later, in 1923, the membership were open to all the races in Malaya.
TPCA also has the one of the most strongest football team in Malaya during the 40's

History

TPCA were formed at the Vivekananda Ashrama by a group of young tamil government servant in the 1914. TPCA built the TPCA Stadum in the 1930s.

Timeline of TPCA:

1914 - TPCA established
1919- First club house were built 
1920- First Sport event-Cricket match against Selangor Club
1921 - Entered the Selangor Football League
1922 -First tennis tournament by TPCA
1925 - TPCA won the Stonor Shield Cricket Tournament
1923 - Won the Selangor Football League 
1936 - First Indo-Ceylonese Tennis Competition Held

Hall of Fame

TPCA well known for wining many major cup in Malaya in various type of sport.Below are their list of achievement.
Beside that, many of TPCA members had served is national sport association as principle office bearers.   

Current Status

TPCA tried to gain back their TPCA Stadium from government but failed, Currently, TPCA in progress to build a brand new sport complex at Kajang

TPCA Stadium

Tamilian Physical Cultural Association Stadium , also known as the TPCA Stadium (later renamed as Stadium Jalan Raja Muda) is a 'once' famous stadium of Malaysia..The stadium were  built by the Tamilian Physical Cultural Association (TPCA) in the 1930. The Stadium had host many major sporting activities and became major pride for the Malaysian Indians (Mainly to the Ceylonese Tamil community). 

The TPCA club famous for produced many top sportsman .

Location

The stadium were located at Jalan Prince (Now known as Jalan Raja Muda)

Current Status 

The government acquired the stadium in 1982 and renamed it as Stadium Raja Muda. Later government found to be unsuitable for major events due to the lack of space for car park and technical facilities. The stadium were left empty field. The field were overgrown with grasses and the club building were turned into store room that kept old sport equipment. 

In 2004, there were action by TPCA to take over the stadium back from the government but failed

Kasthuriraani Patto is Malaysian Politician from Democratic Action Party. She was the daughter of late P.Patto. She currently serve as MP for Batu Kawan.

P. Patto

P.Patto was famous DAP politician and former Member of Parliament (MP) of Ipoh.He also known for serving as political Secretary to Lim Kit Siang and as DAP deputy secretary general in the 90s .  Patto can speak various languages like Tamil, Malay, English and Cantonese. 

Early life and Family 


P.Patto born in Bagan Serai in 10 December 1946 and later worked as teacher before joining politic. Patto father passed away when he was just 10 and later raised up by his grand father. He joined DAP in 1971. Patto married to Marry and her daughter, Kasthuriraani Patto is the  current elected MP of Batu Kawan constituency  

Patto died in 1995 because of heart failure .


Politic Career 

P.Patto had serve as Member of Parliament (MP) for Ipoh and Bagan. P.Patto also contested against MIC leader Dato Seri S.Samy Vellu in the Parliamentary constituency of Sungai Siput in 1974 where he lost by a mere 644 votes. He contested again against  Samy in the same seat in 1990 where he failed to defeat Samy again. Samy was shaken by the bold and great fight P.Patto gave. 
In 1978 and 1987(Operasi Lalang), Patto were detained under the ISA law

  • A road in Raja Uda (Butterworth,Penang) were named as Jalan P.Patto 
  • Patto had written a series of article about himself entitled ''Nenjukku Neethi'
